Conan Exiles Co Op Not Working

Conan Exiles is a survival game that was initially released in 2017. Recently, the game picked up Isle of Siptah expansion which brings a vast new island to explore.

Further, the developers have been adding new stuff to the game through general updates and patches to keep players glued to it.

But it seems that a recent update for Conan Exiles has left players on the PS4 unable to play the co-op mode since they aren’t able to control their character.

Co-Op and Online not working.:: Conan Exiles General Discussions. Content posted in this community. May not be appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work. Don't warn me again for Conan Exiles. When you select Singleplayer / Co – op your computer will act as a host for the game. You can then invite other players to your game by selecting “Invite Friend” from the in-game ESC menu. Your friends will need to be on the Conan Exiles main menu screen to receive invites. You will then need to log back into your game.

We’ve shared some reports from affected users below for reference.

So I play Conan on PS4 with my friend and this is the first time we’ve played together since the update. I am able to play as me until he joins my world. Once he joins I lose control of my body and my camera is stuck in one position. Like spectator mode but I can’t move. (Source)

@ConanExiles tell me you all know about the co-op glitch. if I invite my friends and they join on a private co-op world, they instantly gain control of my character. (Source)

When ever I invite someone to my co-op game, their character doesn’t load in and that player gets control of my character. My screen is locked in place, and if they move away I can not see them. (Source)

Reports from users suggest that each time they invite a friend to a co-op game in Conan Exiles, the friend gets control over their character.

Needless to say, not having control over your character in a game is possibly the most frustrating thing that could happen while gaming.

As highlighted earlier, this bug only appears to be affecting players on the PS4 as there aren’t any similar reports from Xbox and PC players.

Fortunately, it seems the developers of the game have not turned a blind eye to the issue. Responding to a user’s complaint on Twitter via the official Conan Exiles account, they confirmed that they’re working on a fix.

(Source)

The bug was also acknowledged in the official community forums where the support has confirmed that they’re also working on some connectivity issues that might have been introduced with the 2.3 update.

As usual, we’ll keep track of the situation and will post an update if and when the fix for the co-op mode control bug and connectivity issues go live for Conan Exiles.

  • A short guide explaining how to connect to Conan Exiles Servers that do not show in the server browser.

Introduction

This Guide is going to be a comprehensive list of methods used to connect to servers on Conan Exiles.
I have decided to make this guide because i had quite the experience trying to connect to a server i know existed and was up because the owner of said server was talking with me at the time as we were trying to solve the issue.

Method #1 - Steam Server Browser

one method of finding a server that isn't showing up on the ingame list is to see if you can find it on the steam server browser which can be found by doing the following:Conan exiles how to play co op
  • Open up Steam.
  • Click on the 'View' menu at the top of Steam.
  • Then click on 'Servers'.
  • Now make sure you're on the 'INTERNET' tab on the window that opens up and click on 'Change Filters' in the bottom left of the Servers window.
  • In the 'Game' drop down box select Conan Exiles. this way the server list only shows servers for the game we want instead of every server for every game steam supports.
Exiles
Unfortunately steam doesn't have a name filter for us to search the server list for a specific servers name, however the next method is a good work around in some cases.

Method #2 - Steam Favourites

Follow Method one upto step '3'. we will also need the IP of the server you are trying to connect to.
Once you have the server window open do the following.
  • Select the 'Favourites' tab.
  • Click on the 'Add A Server' button in the bottom right of the favourites window.
  • Enter the IP of the server you're trying to connect to then select 'find games at this address'.
  • If you find any servers at the IP then select the server in the list below and select the 'Add game server to favourites' button in the bottom right.

if this doesn't work for you please try the next method.

Method #3 - Setting Launch Parameters

This method is the one i personally had success with, you will also need the IP of the server you're trying to connect to, for this method to work.
  • Find Conan Exiles in your steam library.
  • Right click 'Conan Exiles' in your library and select 'Properties'.
  • Then select 'Set Launch Options...'
  • In the window that pops up you'll want to enter the following: '+connect 45.121.209.16:7777'
  • Replace the IP given here with the IP from the server you're trying to connect to.
  • Launch your game and then wait it can take a few minutes for it to connect you via tghis method to the server.

Conan Exiles Co Op Not WorkingI personally found this method to work for me, however please note when i launched the game it took a few minutes to connect and there were a few moments where it looked like the game had got stuck so i would suggest being patient with the game for a bit before giving up.

Method #4 - Using in game Console

This is probably one of the simplest methods of connecting to a server you can't see in the server browser (although you will still need to know the IP of the server you're trying to connect to).
Activate
  • Launch Conan Exiles.
  • Press the '`' key or whatever key opens the console for you, for me it is the key to the left of the '1' key at the top of my keyboard.
  • Type in 'localtravel 45.121.209.16:7777' without the quote marks, and don't forget to replace the IP and port given here with the one used by the server.
